Things We Forget: 6/5/2014

a few things forgot
and remembered in
May/June

Whatever Your Past, Your Future is Spotless.

Working on a new "Things We Forget" for the month of May/ beginning of June, and this post stood out to me. It saddens me that people are so caught up in their past lives and try to relive their yesterday's when those days are long gone. We get new chances every day to start anew and sometimes are so blind to it because we're still looking over our shoulders. Erykah Badu said it best in 'Bag Lady' when speaking of carrying the weight of the past into something that is ahead of us. Every new interaction, person, experience is "spotless;" a chance at a new start.. untarnished. Stop dragging your past into new situations and muddying them up. Think of it like a sling shot... the longer you hold back, the less time you have to spring forward.
There are people actively rooting against you, sending prayers into the Universe that you will fail.. your relationships, dreams, goals, health... There are people praying for your downfall more than they pray for themselves. You have to have a faith stronger than all that.. Strong foundations can't be shaken or stirred!
If I don't know anything else, I know this... People put up a fight for what they love.

Links We Love: Etsy x The Dino Tea Party

my girls and I this summer.

Etsy is really the best thing since sliced bread. They are my go-to when I want to find something unique; anything from art, jewelry, band tee's, creative gift wrap, knitted scarves, etc. The list goes on. And the best part is it's all fairly affordable.

Get these fun prints and more from Sautter Pictures.
What's better than this?

I Love Fortune Cookies

I love fortune cookies... not the actual cookie, which I never eat, but the fortune inside. Admit it, when you get a good one it can help boost your mood, or give you a quick burst of hope. Most of the time they're pretty generic, but it's fun to pretend that it was destined to find it's way to your meal... just. for. you.

That's exactly how I chose to view this 'fortune.' Change is good, and Lord knows we ALL need it. I'm ready for mine.

( SIDE NOTE: Please don't judge.. 'Panda Express'.. lol. I was on break from my part time and needed a quick bite. )

Morning Thoughts: Seat Fillers vs. The Invited

Seat fillers aren't invited.
They request a seat.
And to be honest no one really cares if they're there or not..
the camera never zooms in on a seat filler..
and to be honest, they are constantly being shifted around,
easily replaced by another seat filler.

Whereas The Invited have a seat reserved for them,
name and all.
The camera loves them,
constantly focused in on their every move.
Because they are important.
Their presence matters.
A Seat Filler can only fill The Invited's seat if The Invited chooses to abandon it,
and should they choose to return
the Seat Filler would fade back into the obscurity of
an 'unmarked' seat.

Don't be a seat filler trying to invite yourself to the show.
Go only where you are invited,
by name,
and anxiously anticipated to show.

Weekend Recap: The Roots Picnic 2014

Philly treated me sooo good.
The Roots Picnic was amazing.
I got to see Snoop Dogg, The Roots and Janelle Monae (again) perform.
Good vibes all around.
 I'm living.

Outkast this weekend will be the cherry on top.

( SIDE NOTE: If ever in Philly, check out this brunch spot called Green Eggs. The food is amazing, waiters were super chill and cool, and they have a BYOB policy.. how crazy is that?! )
