Inspire the Tribe x Solange ' I Read it Away' Bookmarks

 I love creating.

I especially love creating when I'm able to envision something in my head and it comes out exactly as pictured.

Musings: 1/1/2019

today feels
new,
like sparkly clean.
peaceful
relaxing
fresh

filled with faith and determination
and I have no doubt that this will be one of the best years of my life
as cliche as it sounds.
idc

I recognize the power that I possess and plan to grab 2019 by the reigns.

2018 left me feeling...
unfinished

like I had business left to tend to.

it was a year of awakening in many ways

a year that caused me to question if I was happy with the trajectory of my life
if I was walking in my true purpose,
or the shadow of someone else's.
a year filled with so many questions

some of which have yet to be answered

but the best part about continuously asking questions
is that once you know the question
you can seek the answer

if you don't know the problem
how can you solve it?

I brought in the new year in my apartment,
alone,
meditating
on what I want to manifest in the new year
lit a few candles
played my favorite relaxing music in the background
and then went to bed.

nice and low-key

to whoever may see this, I'm wishing you the happiest new year! may peace and prosperity find you.

( SIDE NOTE: I also kicked off Jan 1 by starting a gratitude jar; something that I had been wanting to do for a while now. )

Inspire the TRIBE x Trap Yoga 11/25/18

This weekend consisted of lots of time spent with family, great food (no leftovers over here, but tons of dining out due to not wanting to step foot in a kitchen after the holiday), lots of laughter and a vending opportunity with Trap Yoga that fell into my lap days prior.

I had a great time mingling with the other vendors (@HerSweat - check them out.. love what they're doing), sharing my brand with the participants and taking in the view from the Observation deck (the tallest building in the DMV at 32 floors) where the event was held.

Inspiration.

What's in a word?

anything that rouses you to feel
to move,
stimulates you to create,
seek more,
aim higher,
to be greater,
to elevate

it awakens something in you
a desire to be present
to be here

a breath of fresh air
when you didn't even know you had stopped breathing

Inspire the TRIBE takes Artechouse DC

"unfortunately, no one can be told what the matrix is. you have to see it for yourself."
-Morpheus

Yesterday I was finally able to check out Artechouse, a new interactive exhibit to DC. I say "finally" (it was less than a week after the grand opening) because I had spent hours scouring through the tagged photos from the exhibit's instagram (@Artechouse) with each picture being better than the last. Excited is an understatement! And I must say... it didn't disappoint.

The tickets allow you access to the exhibit for an hour, although we were allowed in a little early, so we were able to make greater use of our time. There were just the right amount of people - not overly crowded, pretty chill group and no real photo bombs (*praise hands*).

Now that I know what to expect, I'm going to check out the exhibit again soon and see if there's anything that I missed.

Art makes the world go 'round.

We Work Creator Awards 2017 x Inspire The TRIBE

The Inaugural We Work Creator Awards was my first time vending. I'm a painter first, so to be in a venue without my paintings felt a little... strange. I also didn't advertise that I'd be vending this night so every face that I came into contact with was a new one. I have really grown to love throwing myself in to uncomfortable  unfamiliar situations in an effort to push myself out of my comfort zone.

The night was great. There were thousands in attendance, a much bigger audience than I'd ever had at any of my previous shows. The cause was spectacular, over 1.5M in grants was given out to 25 entrepreneurs, and the love was REAL. I love connecting with people. I love when people connect with something I've created with my own two hands. There's something so surreal about that, still, to this day.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... rediscovering my love of art changed my life. I can't wait to see where this journey takes me in the next couple of months, years and so on.

Thank you so much to We Work for scouting me out and inviting me to be a part of such a cool night.
