These Are A Few of My Favorite Things: Lush Products
I've been curious about Lush products for a few years now. There is a store within walking distance of job and I've probably walked by it hundreds of times before I finally decided to stop in two months ago. Of the five products I purchased that day, these are the products that stood out the most:
Dark Angels is a face scrub that is literally clumps of soft, gritty charcoal that you break off and mix with water. The result is a smooth, exfoliated clear complexion. I've also noticed my face doesn't get nearly as oily throughout the day when I start my day with this.
Ro's Argan Body Conditioner, I purchased at the urging of the sales girl and I'm very happy I did. It is exactly what it says it is, a body conditioner, and you use it as such. After bathing you apply the rose scented conditioner to your body and rinse off, for a smell that will linger on your skin all day. No perfume needed.
Weekend Recap: Northern VA Fine Arts Festival x Reston Town Center
This weekend I found myself returning to my old high school town for the first time in years. The occasion? A spontaneous invite to check out the Northern VA Fine Arts Festival at Reston Town Center (my friends define me as one of those 'I like art type girls'). The area has really changed since my high school days when there was nothing but a movie theatre, ice skating rink and a few restaurants. The festival boasted hundreds of patrons all coming together to appreciate fine art and expression. The town center's streets were lined with booths where artists from all across the U.S. displayed every type of art form that you could think of. I really enjoyed being surrounded by such creativity and I'm sure it will inspire another work from myself in the coming days. It was a nice change of pace, and I'm looking forward to all of pop-up festivals that this season brings.
Happy Sunday!
xoxo

Musings x 5/12/2014
I wish people were who they say they are
we have so much more control over our lives than we realize
nothing more than a 'choose your own ending' book
happy to know you're doing well
think I passed on my blessing years ago
want: cotton candy
living social happy hour cruises
hair growth regimen: pineapple up do's to prevent breakage
Vashtie vibes

I've dealt with a lot of unappreciative people in my life.. and to some I've probably been that person. But one thing I've learned along the way is we always come to regret the things we didn't appreciate. Whether it be immediate or years down the line.

Should've Went to Art School: Selfie
I've never been good at drawing myself. I think that ego doesn't always allow us to accurately capture our self fully, flaws and all. This time was different though. I tried to channel my inner Frida Kahlo.. a woman who wasn't afraid to let her flaws (by society's standards) all hang out in her portraits: immobility, unibrow, mustache and all. I sat on the couch, mirror in hand, and studied my face; high forehead, bag plagued eyes, prominent nose, unruly hair.. After about an hour I was happy with what I created. A true 'selfie' of my minds eye.
