Musings |Thoughts On Love: 7/11/2014
To choose to be in a relationship with someone is so beautiful as it is a declaration of: 'I choose to be with this person over everyone else.' Out of all of the billions (and counting) people in the world, I choose you. And that's not saying just everyone in our lives at the moment because we meet so many people over the course of a lifetime. I feel as though you have to have something so strong to say, 'I choose you over people that I haven't even met yet,' because the feeling is that real. You know that no matter who you might run into tomorrow, or the next day or five years down the line... no one can or will compare to what you've found in this one special person. Unshakable, unmovable. That's love.

Musings: 7/9/2014
I've never felt more free
my only responsibility is to surrender to my needs
and to continue to work on making myself a better person
I don't have to answer to anyone
I don't have to tip toe around feelings or
follow anyone else's blueprint for my life
I don't have to live up to anyone's expectations
or in anyone's shadow
I feel good
I deserve this.

"We all want things to stay the same, David…settle for living in misery, because we’re afraid of change, of things crumbling to ruins. Then I looked around in this place, at the chaos it’s endured, the way it’s been adapted, burned, pillaged…then found a way to build itself back up again, and I was reassured. Ruin is a gift, ruin is the road to transformation."
"If you’re brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue, and if you accept everyone you meet as a teacher…and if you are prepared, most of all, to forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you."

Trillectro Line Up 2014
I was heartbroken last year when I was scheduled to work the same day as the Trillectro music festival. But somehow the fates turned in my favor and my name magically disappeared off of the schedule. Score! I created a playlist in my excitement just for the ride to the fair grounds (lol ...lame I know) equipped with The Clipse x "Trill" to set the mood (lamer... I'm corny). The festival is still fairly new. It's not on the level of The Governors Ball or a Coachella... yet. But it definitely has potential. I didn't realize it then, but a lot would change for me after that day. Fast forward to a year later. After much deliberation I think I'll be back again. The venue is bigger. Oh, and Migos. And this year I'll be sure to request off wayyyy in advance.
Like today.

Weekend Recap: Stars, Stripes And A Red Mani
I spent the fourth on a friends rooftop in the middle of DC. It turned out to be a very good - albeit last minute - decision because every direction you turned there were fireworks to be seen. The firework enthusiast inside of me was pleased. My outfit was accidentally patriotic as you can see in the selfies I shamelessly took as I waited - cutoffs, striped tank, a star lariat and a red mani (the mani was on purpose).
