I survived Trillectro 2014.

 

Thank you to everyone who came out and showed support to myself, We the TRIBE and House of Mimi! Whether you copped a hoodie/ tee, came by and spent some time with us at the tent or allowed me to explain my vision to you... it's all greatly appreciated, and I'm very happy I chose to take a leap of faith and go through with vending. We made a lot of connections, met a bunch of interesting characters (lol) and the TRIBE reached a whole new audience which is exciting! Turning my hobby into something more, and hearing people I care about say they're proud of me means the world. This is only the beginning.

Someone sent chocolates to my job today. It's funny because I was just saying to myself it's been a while since someone sent me flowers, or anything really. Anyway - I was having a sucky day, and just like that it was turned around. It got me thinking about how easily a little effort and a kind gesture brought a smile back to my face. I'd like to do more of that. Good energy is contagious. Whether it's a smile, an encouraging message in the morning or just lending a shoulder to lean on/ ear to listen when someone needs to vent.. I always try to do my part, but I know I can do more. Small things add up. Small things matter.

my way of viewing things has changed
people, blessings and lessons

everywhere I look, I see abundance.

I place value on the good people in my life
...more so than ever before
and I pay attention to the energies I feel in certain people's company

because if you spend enough time with them,
they will rub off on you

good or bad.
I started a new hobby.. which I love! :)

surreal,
life outside of your comfort zone.

looking forward to more days spent with those vibes
you can always tell when someone was raised right
thank God (and good parents) for them

I like meeting people that are different than people I've met before..
try something new at least once a week
create memories with people who won't make you wish you could take them back
and don't stifle yourself for anyone,
blossom.
If I could buy back the time I wasted in the past year, I would. One million percent.

I Tend To Write ( And Think ) A Lot On Planes

The thing I love most about being on a plane is take off. Watching all of your problems - well everything really - become smaller and smaller beneath you. The worries of the world seem to fade away when you're thousands of miles above them. We become so caught up in ourselves and our every day stressors that we forget how vast the world really is; the aerial view from the plane is a great reminder. Any feelings of being alone whether it be in thought, interests, etc. seem challenged when there are billions of people beneath your feet, hustling and bustling in their every day lives.. having the same thoughts, vision clouded by their immediate surroundings. If only they could get to a plane..

today I leave for LA

six days away

surrounded by new vibes + no worries

the need to escape is real

and so is my desire to start anew in an unexplored location

nothing holds me here but family/ friends

associates I rarely see

and nostalgia

and while I love them more than life itself

it's time to spread my wings

I want to meet more people like me

I want to be around the real

love that gives no reason to question, ever
because it exists,

organically grown friendships

nice weather

kind souls

and high windows,

candy colored buildings 

art on the sidewalks

a career that allows me to sit on the airport floor, 

indian style, 

huddled next to an outlet blogging from my laptop 

as I am now.

Nothing But Trouble x Phantogram

A few posts back I mentioned that I wanted to devote more time to painting/ drawing, and I was given the opportunity to do just that when a musician friend asked me to come up with something that they could use as album art for one of their singles. That was completely my intention when I began, but it turned into something else. Charcoal is one of my favorite mediums to play around with. I love the idea of filling the paper with darkness and using an eraser to "draw" the light. Watching a piece come to life right before my eyes is the best part.

Weekend Recap: Pink Ambition, DominiqueDaDiva.com And the "Under the Influence" Tour

...And what a weekend it was!

This week I found myself in Norfolk, Va to support my friend/sorority sister/radio personality extraordinaire Dominique for the launch of her website DominiqueDaDiva.com! I sat in on an interview with Young Jeezy, attended the "Under The Influence Tour," (Wiz is a rockstar) and rounded out the weekend with the launch brunch/day party. I had a great time. Girl's nights/ weekends are so necessary. I'm looking forward to this (Cali) and next week (The B-Word screening). Four weeks of summer left. What will you do with yours?
