Everything in life is a trade-off.

(By definition, a technique of reducing or forgoing one or more desirable outcomes in exchange for increasing or obtaining other desirable outcomes in order to maximize the total return or effectiveness under given circumstances.)

Think about it.

Trade that heartbreak you went through for strength and wisdom gained.

Hardwork for the results/ experience received from it.

Sacrificing weekends for a paycheck to spend on enjoyable things in the future.

Etc.

The sooner you realize this the better.

 

Angela Hendricks collaborates (reluctantly) with her toddler daughter to create these brilliant works of art. Hendricks, a portrait artist would sketch the head and her daughter and her imagination would add the body. How could you not love that?

Things, people, feelings change in an instant.

It’s quite amazing how many roads we’ll travel until we find the one that leads us to our destiny..

Taking this journey alone. No man to be my guide.

No candy trails to lead me back should I make a wrong turn.

Simply me.

A girl trying to find her way in the world.

( SIDE NOTE: I received my first Curl Box this month, and to be honest I'm slightly disappointed... I was expecting more full size products for the ($25) price. I did like the 'Hair Rules' products though, (Hair Rules Quench Conditioner, 16 oz) and will consider buying them when the sample sizes run out.)

Labor day weekend consisted of road trips, family reunions and go kart racing! Needless to say, it was a good time all around. I can't believe that September is here already; this year is moving so fast.

( SIDE NOTE: I haven't straightened my hair since June. Funny how I'm apprehensive about straightening it now, when just months ago it was the norm. )

In his own words Reyes describes, “We get it, you can wipe your ass with hundred dollar bills, but sorry Jay, you’re neither ‘the new Jean-Michel’ or ‘the modern day Pablo Picasso.’ If said artists could return the favor and include you in their work though, it might look something like this.”

mutual friends

full of memories that last and last.

while your and my tale was never really written

a rough draft

a sequel, with no real beginning

never made it to print

thrown in the "no" pile

all the while

still craving her smile

the one that could never do any wrong

despite all the sins you spoke of

you always were the type to prefer thrillers over romantic comedies

like the romantic comedy,

or thought of you and me

but there was that one time you laughed.

I miss posting musings on here, so here it goes

reminding myself that I don't owe anyone anything

but that's tricky when you have a big heart..

anticipating: rock the bells dc, Janelle Monae at the Lincoln Theatre (tickets go on sale Aug. 23), and planning my next getaway

learning that I'm not always the best when it comes to judging someones character, and that a good heart doesn't necessarily equal good character

we're all at different stages in our lives

... and that's okay.

my nails are the prettiest shade of blue right now.

I'm slightly obsessed with them.

come fall, leather will be like a second skin to me

still hate dating (lol) and don't anticipate that changing anytime soon

baz luhrmann is a phenomenal director
