this very well may be the last post of the year

I didn't start it with any plan of writing some long, drawn out recap of 2016

until I looked at the date

I still don't want to focus too much on the past year

I will say this though

growth.

happiness

preparation

this year, for me, felt like the slingshot being pulled back and stretched as far as it could go (sounds bad but I mean that in the best possible way)

to propel forward in the next.

the end of 2016 is steadily approaching and I've never felt more ready for a new year to begin.

unlike many who've complained of 2016 being a horror year for them,

it has treated me extremely well!

I've made a lot of strides as an artist

gained balance in my personal life

taken chances whether they succeeded or not

and learned a ton about myself and others

I have a few art shows locked in for the beginning of the year that I'm currently creating for.

excited to see what's in store

Soulvember Radio Ep. 15 x Music For the Times

I love Influenster. The Vox Boxes just keep getting better and better. Imagine my surprise when I received #TheEsteeEdit Vox Box full of complimentary products for me to try and give honest feedback on. Talk about an upgrade! I started with the late night eraser. I like the consistency and it was easy to rub in with the cooling tip. I struggle with puffiness under my eyes some days and this helped to lessen the severity of them. The radiance activator was another favorite because most days (Mon-Fri) my face is as bare as a baby's bottom. This serum brightened up my face and made me feel like I was glowing all day. It has now been added into my routine. I will update this post as I continue trying out the other two products, but so far so good! Try these products if you want to see an overall improvement in the brightness and radiance of your skin - and who doesn't want that?

I don't experiment with my look often.

I'm a wake up and go kind of girl

when I'm wearing my hair natural (which is 97% of the time these days) I don't have to do much;

it styles itself

my makeup routine has been the same for as long as I can remember

I don't stray too often from my signature cat eye and nude, red or brown lip

and my hair has been some variation of blonde for the past 3 years (aside from the random rainbow hue for festival season)

BUT

I

GETTING

B O R E D!

so one day while scrolling through Instagram, I saw a friend of mine knew how to achieve the goddess locs style and reached out to her immediately. We set up an appointment for the following week.

I'm very happy with the way they turned out. Initially my scalp was not feeling me.. I've never had my hair braided with extensions before, and it was a little rough to get used to at first, (with all the added weight of the hair) but after a few days I was able to fully love the style - scalp and all. Aside from how drastically different the look is for me, I especially love how easy it is to maintain. It's a style that actually looks better the longer it is in (the locs get fuzzier, giving the appearance of a more natural look). It has also helped me lean a little more toward letting my highlights grow out and embracing my roots (we'll see...).

I'm not sure how long I'm going to keep the style in - it's been about two weeks - and I'm already ready to switch it up again. But for now, I'm making the most of my new 'do.

Weekend Recap: GluDay Festival x Inspire the TRIBE

Considering I was only asked to participate two days before the festival, I had no idea what direction I wanted to go painting-wise, and I've never actually live painted before... my first experience at the #GluDay festival was awesome. It is definitely something I can see myself doing again.

I didn't actually take time out to take in much of the festival. Once I finally got started I was in my zone. I will post better pictures of the actual pieces that I came up with in a later post. Much love to everyone who took pictures, (tag me @Shari_Renee) stopped by to chat about my work or just overall checked up on me throughout the festival. You're appreciated.
