Musings: (Cont)
Don't let the situations that we build up in our minds become bigger than what they are. We all have problems. That's not to be debated, however, we often magnify them to ridiculous dimensions because they are ours, when in reality there are people that would kill to have the small nuisances that we allow to cause us so much stress. Listening in on strangers, and even friends, grievances remind me every day how small the major stressors in my life truly are.
That may not be very comforting because we are living our lives... the problems that we come across and have to deal with every day we do have to eventually confront. I'm not saying to downplay your issues just because others have it worse; I'm just asking that you try to change the way you confront your problems. It's all about perspective. Try to find the light in the dark.. the good in the bad. The end result is almost always strength gained, and you can never have too much of that.

If your surroundings don't reflect where you want to be in life, change them.
Don't rush anything. Not a thing.
Change your paradigm, change your life.
With our many resources one should never be bored. If you're bored it says a lot about you.
Go learn something.
I love grand over the top gestures.
But I've learned that they are better done in moderation.
You have to learn how to identify win/ win vs. win/ lose situations.
Your energy is undeniable. Harness it. Allow it to flourish.
I try to be more cognizant of the music I listen to these days.. It has a stronger effect on your thought process than you'd think.
Moderation; avoidance of extremes or excesses.
Dogs really are man's best friend.
Everyone deserves a day to themselves. Take the time to reconnect with you.
My body yearns for the beach. Open water. A light breeze.

Behind the Scenes: A Hair Story in America
Shoot with @Rouge_Jungle. I'll post the pictures as soon as I get my hands on them. I was once again reminded that I'm entirely too awkward and silly (and short!) to ever take the whole modeling thing seriously, but it was fun!

People will put you on this pedestal of being perfect, and then get mad when you don't live up to who they built you up to be.
A fall from grace, of which you had no place?
A little askew in a fantasy that's straight laced.
( SIDE NOTE: Sometimes I feel like I try so hard to understand the misunderstood only to have myself looked over. 'Tis life I suppose. )
So tonight I started laying out my vision board. I decided to just focus on the current year instead of the vision for my life as it just seems clearer at the moment. The purpose of a vision board, for those who aren't sure, is to help identify and give clarity to your vision, keep your focus on what you want and to reinforce your daily affirmations. This is just a sneak peak of the beginning of mine.. I still have a long way to go before it accurately reflects all that I want to materialize out of this year. I encourage you all to try it. Flipping through old magazines took me back to high school when I used to cover my composition notebooks with a collage of cutouts... and seeing the words/ things you're drawn to when creating this project is very telling in so many ways. I'll post the final project when it's complete.

Stumbled upon this cool post on WhitneyEnglish.com, check it out here. I'm going to try to start taking the time to put effort into the little things this year, like writing thank you notes, that make a big impact.

I don't push my thoughts or views on anyone
And I don't look down on others for not seeing the world the way that I do
I appreciate every opinion or viewpoint for what it is
And it took a lot of time and growth in myself to become this way
I've learned more about who I want to be by viewing certain traits in others that I didn't want to become.
Nobody's perfect.
I'm learning,
You're learning
We can all learn and grow at our own pace
On our own personal levels of awareness and one day hopefully learn to respect that of others.
Growth,
Enlightenment,
It's meant to be shared.
( SIDE NOTE: In the new year I'm going to stop trying to be everything to everyone. )

I'm always in search of new teachings/ practices on my constant journey of self-discovery. This morning I stumbled across this lovely little exercise via GinaMarotta.com.
Finding your Genius: DIY Practice
Finding your genius is a process that takes an investment of time and energy. You can do it yourself and start right now by committing to a simple daily practice.
Journal briefly on these 7 self-discovery questions for 10-20 minutes each day in the morning or evening. Within just a few weeks, you’ll reveal your inner Albert Einstein in what you do and say all the time with ease and joy.
- Best parts of my day
- What I did well or was complimented on
- Something unusual or special I noticed about myself
- Messages from my inner wisdom (voice, vision, feeling or knowing)
- What I want to do more
- Struggles of the day
- Insights about myself
Implementing January 1, 2014.
Happy Monday!

One of my favorite features on Beyonce's game changing new album is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Her rousing feminist speech is sampled on "Flawless." The excerpt below:
“We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smallerWe say to girls – you can have ambition, but not too muchYou should aim to be successful but not too successful otherwise you will threaten the manBecause I am female I am expected to aspire to marriageI am expected to make my life choices always keeping in mind that marriage is the most importantA marriage can be a source of joy and love and mutual supportBut why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage and we don’t teach boys the same?We raise girls to see each other as competitors not for jobs or for accomplishments,Which I think can be a good thingBut for the attention of menWe teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings in the way that boys areFeminist: A person who believes in the economic, social and political equality of the sexes.”

Inspire the TRIBE started as an outlet for me.
It served as a place where I could post my innermost thoughts, poetry and dope things that inspired me, and if someone else happened to stumble upon it, (It was completely private for the first two years. Only two of my friends even knew it existed) that was cool too. Since going public it has become so much more. ITT still serves as an outlet for me.. a place to turn when I want to be creative and share my findings/ creations with the world, but it has become more than that. This year I created a new branch of the site in the form of a tee/ sweatshirt line, We the TRIBE, and watched the movement spread across the country and internationally! Major. (We the TRIBE = the free-thinkers, doers, movers and shakers. )
