A heartbeat
lasts a mere second
but keeps pumping away
prolonging this journey we call life
no matter what twists and turns it may bring our way
it is our duty to live it
the very breath that fills our lungs and cascades throughout our being
reminds us that we are alive
it keeps us
composed
