Trying to make time for more reading. On my list.

Wednesday, April 4, 2018

Stumbled upon one of my old posts today that made me smile. It's nice to feel like I'm living out some of the things that I set out for myself five years ago. Still a long way to go. Enjoying the journey. :)

Q&A: What Products Do I Use in My Natural Hair Routine?

I'm asked this question fairly often, and over the years the answer has changed. My hair isn't crazy about coconut oil (does nothing for me) or shea butter (eh.), but here are a few products that work wonders for me:

A few steps that I've added to my routine
that have helped retain length and minimize damage:

* taking daily (or when I can remember) biotin supplements
* adding more cucumber to my diet (a tip I learned from one of my vegan friends,  )
* doing twist/ braid outs vs. a pineapple at night (helps to decrease tangling and stretch my hair... combating shrinkage)
* investing in products with quality ingredients
* dry hair with an ole t-shirt

and last but not least, one of these bad boys! makes comb outs sooo much smoother.

hope this helps, and I will update this post as I discover new products. :)

Here's one too many pictures from my interview with the Kxng RG Takeover and Miss H.E.R. This was my first (hopefully not last) radio interview and I was extremely nervous initially, but I really enjoyed discussing my brand.

(SIDE NOTE: I think I will follow up with a 'Who Is Inspire the TRIBE?' post to answer some questions about myself and my journey - thus far. Leave any questions you might have in the comments. )

Weekend Recap: Sunday Funday x Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

I had some muchhhh needed girl time this weekend. Sunday's are perfect for museum hopping in DC because parking is free! We started at the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, made our way to Hank's Oyster bar and finished the night out at Penn Social (home of my favorite bartender, Hannah - Tell her I sent you!) It was a great time. The weather cooperated with us for the most part, but I am so over the winter, and counting down the days 'til spring.

I know that I say this every time... but this may have been my favorite show so far, lol. I really love getting out and sharing my work with others. Doing shows brings me such a sense of fulfillment; I love when people ask about the inspirations behind my work, I love when people explain to me how a piece resonates with them. Overall, I love the sense of connection.

Thanks to each and every one of you who have supported me in any way, along the way. It is truly appreciated, and I look forward to what this year has to offer.

(SIDE NOTE: My bookmarks are taking off in a way that I could've never imagined - shout out to those of you who have purchased - there's a lot more on the way!)

2017 Recap: Museum of Ice Cream x Miami

In mid-December I took a flight down to Miami to escape the cold and to check out the newly opened Museum of ice Cream Miami! Anyone that knows anything about the Museum of Ice Cream knows that the one in LA is nearly impossible to get tickets to, so I was especially excited that a new one was opening up in Miami. It was everything that I thought it would be. There were four (?) floors and at every turn we were offered a different type of ice cream. The banana swing and sprinkle pool were two of my favorite exhibits, and what I liked most is that you weren't rushed through each room. You could spend as much time as you wanted at the museum, and somehow, it wasn't crowded.

I highly encourage anyone that is able to take advantage of the museum while you can. I believe initially it was only going to be open for two months but due to the response they may keep their doors open a little longer.
